Parov Stelar – 'The Paris Swing Box' ep is out now!

With his unmistakeable fusion of jazz, swing and electro, Parov Stelar has established himself as one of the top international music producers of recent years. Few manage to so skilfully modernize swing without even starting to sound a little retro or without simply misusing samples from the original records of the 20’s and 30’s. In his hands, new interpretations come to life with a distinct sound that is unique to Parov Stelar. The now available five-track mini-album, “The Paris Swingbox”, demonstrates this distinctive sound. Unlike his albums, his EPs are aimed at the dance floor and “The Paris Swingbox”, without coming across as simply a tool for DJ’s, is no exception. The five tracks reflect the mood of the swing era in an inimitable way. The samples are arranged subtly and sit perfectly. While staying true to the original sounds and their aesthetics, “The Paris Swingbox” manages to be a strictly modern production. With house beats always in the foreground, these are kicking club tracks which have nothing to do with soothing lounge music. What has emerged here is a virtually unique hybrid which, rather than falling between the genres of old and new, creates an altogether irresistible groove of its own.
